SUBURBIA STORY (2020)

duration: 11 minutes

Suburbia Story is a short black and white experimental film that mixes performance art and painted images to create a surreal dream-like story set in an unrefined suburban Los Angeles neighborhood. By twisting references to familiar iconographic images from art, history and religion, the film’s tableaus create an unsettling, alternative mythology that reflects contemporary socio-political dynamics. It expresses a queer narrative about the expulsion and fall from grace, but that still invites audiences to interpret in their own personal way.

TABLEAUX VIVANTS (2017-ongoing)

Photography

A Collection of events, performances, and installations staged for the camera.

A tableau vivant (French for "a living picture") from the historical point of view is a static scene featuring one or more actors or models. They are stationary and silent images, usually with costumes and/or props created on a theatrical stage. In that sense this series of digital photography titled TABLEAUX VIVANTS (plural) is truly using the same concept of representing life, but with a unique twist of having main characters represented through drawings or other forms of art, on an environmental stage. The photos are part of an open, experimental narrative about life, nature, and a spiritual journey - with new variations being created to add to the series.

TRAVELER (2020)

Duration: 18 minutes

TRAVELER is an 18-minute cinematic experience of the Great American West by Los Angeles and Serbian based visual artist and director Vojislav Radovanović. This non-narrative film is a poetic and meditative visual pilgrimage through scenic landscapes revealing the beauty, fragility, and power of nature as well as human influence on the ecosystem.

wanderers (2021)

duration: 8' 24"

The "wanderers" is an audio-video artwork by Vojislav Radovanovic in collaboration with composer Joseph Carrillo. This work is about grief and anxiety for the growing climate crisis and the sixth mass extinction-level event that our planet is currently experiencing due to human impact. The video tells the story of the two last surviving birds flying through a desolate landscape of a burned forest, as told by a human puppeteer (performed by Jason Jenn), suggesting that the action is taking place in a barren future where there is little other life in existence.
